Lateral Strain Test Apparatus for Testing Lateral Stress of Socket-Outlets

This device is for checking the resistance to lateral strain of  socket-outlet according to IEC60884-1 clause 13.14 / figure 13 and VDE0620, It is apply to test whether the socket-outlets having rating up to and including 16A and 250V will cause any damage in the standard sense when they are subjected to lateral stress by an appliance that is inserted into the socket. Each specimen is mounted on a vertical surface with the plane through the socket-contacts horizontal. The device is then fully engaged and a weight hung on it such that the force exerted is 5N. The device is removed after 1 min and the socket-outlet is turned through 90 degrees on the mounting surface. The test is made four times, and the socket-outlet being turned through 90 degrees after each engagement. During the test the device shall not become disengaged from the socket-outlet.
