A Comparison of the New and Old Standards for the Glow Wire Apparatus

The IEC60695-2-10 standard is a common test method for testing the flame retardant performance of materials used in electrical products. During use, the product may reach excessive temperatures due to overload, short circuit, electrical contact or other fault conditions that can cause a fire hazard. The glow wire test is to simulate the overloaded resistance heat source to apply thermal stress to the sample in a short time, and to evaluate the fire risk of the sample through observation and measurement. The glow wire test is suitable for resarching, production and quality inspection departments of electrical and electronic products, such as lighting equipment, low-voltage electrical appliances and household appliances, machine tool appliances, motors, electric tools, electronic instruments, electrical instruments, information technology equipment, electrical equipment and their components, and also applicable to insulating materials, engineering plastics or other solid combustible materials industry. There is difference on glow-wire apparatus in version 2013 and version 2000 of standard IEC60695-2-10, the details as below:
The purpose of the revision of the IEC 60695-2-10 standard is to reduce the influence factors of the test environment and equipment on the test results. The change in the diameter of the thermocouple greatly reduces the damage rate of the glow wire. The glow wire tester (models GW-1 and GW-1H) produced by PEGO can completely meet the requirements of the latest standard.

The material of standardized cookware in EN60350-2 version 2018 and version 2013

The standardized cookwares referred in this article are designed according to EN(IEC)60350-2 table (Z)3. The diameter of the cookware bottom (outside), diameter of the lid, lid hole circle diameter, number of holes on the circle, total cookware height (outside) and flatness of cookware bottom are specified in table (Z)3. The materials of side wall, cookware bottom and lid are different. In version 2018, the side wall of cookware is made of stainless steel AISI type 304, the cookware bottom is made of stainless steel AISI type 430, and and the lid is made of aluminium. In version 2013, the side wall of cookware is made of 1.4301 stainless steel, the cookware bottom is made of stainless steel 1.4016, and the lid is made of aluminium.
