The Application of Spring Hammer

Spring hammer test apparatus, also be called as spring impact hammer or spring hammer, it is a professional testing equipment to assess the material or products against to mechanical impact strength. The spring hammer test is to simulate the products may suffer the mechanical impact during the transport, use and accident, so as to ensure the safety and reliability of the product in actual application.

The spring hammer test apparatus has a wide range of applications:

1. Household and Similar Electrical Products

Housings: The apparatus is used to test the mechanical impact strength of product housings. For example, in the case of consumer electronics such as televisions, computers, and home appliances like refrigerators and washing machines. By subjecting the housing to impacts using the spring hammer, manufacturers can ensure that the outer casing can withstand accidental knocks or bumps during normal use, transportation, or installation.

Operating Levers, Handles, and Knobs: These components are frequently interacted with by users. The spring hammer test helps determine if they can endure the mechanical forces exerted during normal operation and potential impacts. For instance, the volume knob on a stereo or the handle of a microwave oven needs to be robust enough to withstand impacts without breaking or malfunctioning.

Indicator Lights: In electrical devices, indicator lights are often delicate components. The spring hammer test can assess whether they can survive impacts without damage. This is crucial because if an indicator light is damaged, it may lead to incorrect user signals and affect the overall functionality and safety of the product.

2. Compliance with Industry Standards

IEC60598 - 1: This standard pertains to luminaires. Spring hammer tests are carried out to ensure that luminaires can withstand mechanical impacts as specified in this standard. For example, a pendant light in a living room or a street light outside needs to have a certain level of impact resistance to function properly and safely.

IEC62262: This standard is related to the protection of equipment operating in harsh environments. The spring hammer test apparatus is used to test equipment enclosures to ensure they meet the impact resistance requirements of this standard. This is vital for outdoor equipment such as power distribution boxes or industrial control cabinets.

EC60068 - 2 - 63: It deals with various environmental testing procedures. The spring hammer test is a part of the mechanical impact testing requirements in this standard. This helps in evaluating the durability of products when exposed to different environmental conditions and potential mechanical stresses.

3. Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
With the development of the IK08/5J spring hammer, it is now possible to test electric vehicle charging stations. These charging stations are exposed to various environmental and mechanical factors. The spring hammer test can help determine if the enclosure of the charging station can withstand impacts from vehicles, accidental collisions with equipment, or other external forces. This is crucial for the safety and reliable operation of the charging infrastructure.
